Green Wood International AG (GWI), founded in 1984, is a specialist in Paulownia plantations. Our trees grow faster than any other hardwood or precious wood tree in the world. Due to the special and intensive care by our team, they are ready for harvesting already from the 12th year. High-quality products are manufactured from the A-grade (Clear & Clean) wood of the Treeme Paulownia. Our goal is to realize a maximum of environmental protection, ecology, sustainability and climate protection in addition to above-average yields. Through the treeme project, we offer interested parties the opportunity to acquire revenue-sharing rights related to the sale of the precious wood from treeme trees. The minimum number of revenue share claims is 15.

treeme is a project of GWI, where a revenue claim can be acquired regarding Paulownia precious wood trees (revenue share claim - RSC). The trees grow on our plantations and are harvested after 12-15 years, the wood of the trees is sold at the highest price.

It comes primarily from the natural growth of the trees and the associated increase in the amount of wood. Paulownia trees have an annual mass increase of 10 - 15%. Another yield factor results from the product market developed by GWI for articles made from the Treeme wood.

In Western Europe (our target market) there is not yet a functioning market for Paulownia wood and products made from it. In the USA, a market that has existed for more than 30 years, the wood grown there is processed by the plantation operators and sold on the market as a final product. Following the example of our cooperation partners in the USA, our goal is to open up a high-priced niche market for Western Europe for high-quality products made from the wood of our trees. The results already achieved are more than impressive and confirm our intention. With our partners we are already building the best wooden surfboards in the world (Enlain), the lightest solid wood guitar and bass in the world (Hemage), as well as several other products we have launched this year. We put a lot of work into growing and caring for the trees to be able to harvest the best paulownia wood after 12 years.

They are located in Germany and Spain. Basically, our locations are selected according to various criteria such as soil quality, climate, rainfall, etc. . Currently we have locations in Bietigheim, Opfenbach, Losenrade (Germany), Cáceres and Mallorca (Spain).

The plantation areas are leased. The leases are always for the full growing season of the trees - 12 plus 2 years extension option.

Green Wood Service GmbH, with its own agricultural engineers, takes care of the planting, rearing and maintenance of the plantations. Special emphasis is placed on intensive care of the trees in order to achieve the best wood quality during harvesting. The treeme plantations are managed 100% according to ecological standards - without the addition of chemical additives.

In order to provide the highest possible security for healthy and straight growth, the trees are pruned back for their safety after hail damage. If this kind of "failure" cannot be fully recovered, it will be necessary to talk about postponing the harvest at the appropriate time, in order to take advantage of the opportunity to improve the yield when selling the wood.

Cane outbreak is a peculiarity of Paulownia, however, the shoots are only found in the root environment of the tree. The annual new shoots are removed by our teams in the course of intensive control and maintenance. This behavior/specialness should not be confused with invasiveness. Our variety ( Shan Tong - Royal Treeme I ) has been proven to be non-invasive. This means that our trees cannot reproduce uncontrollably.

When a plantation area is terminated, the roots are removed by clearing or desolation. For this purpose, 15,- Euro per tree have been deposited as a cover guarantee on a security account in favor of the responsible district office. This money will be released after the professional clearing of the project area and sufficient confirmation by the responsible district office.

Seeding is decided depending on the location, environment, soil quality and climatic conditions. In Bietigheim, for example, a clover seed is used, while in Spain an alpha seed is used. The organization of a nitrogen supply is always related to this, and in addition, action is taken in agreement with the regulations for ecological cultivation.

In Spain, the plantations are generally designed with irrigations. In Germany, sites were selected whose water supplies (at least 550 ML/a) are statistically proven. If necessary, water is added using water trucks that have been specially adapted to the existing technical needs.

Only arable land that is legally permitted for use as short-rotation plantations will be used.

So far, 100% of the treeme project is organic land (in Germany the correct term is „Ökolandbau“, in Switzerland „Biobetriebe“).

In Switzerland, some plants that spread uncontrollably (invasiveness) are blacklisted. This is also the case with the Paulownia species "Tomentosa". This is, in contrast to our variety "Shan Tong", invasive. By proving that our variety is not invasive, normally no problems are expected.

The farmer in question will either have to sell with existing contracts or pay compensation. Due to the fact that all plantations are in Western Europe, we assume that legal security is given. Our insurance was given to us by a major insurer, who examined and evaluated all conceivable risks for the entire term. They were assessed by the insurance company as acceptable.

Hybrids are a cross between several varieties of one species. In our case from Paulownia Elongata, Paulownia Fortunai and Paulownia Tomentosa.

Paulownia trees offer a variety of benefits for the treeme project. Five main reasons speak for this tree species:

• Due to its rapid growth, the tree can be harvested and used for further processing much faster than other species of precious wood.
• The climatic conditions at the plantation site in Europe are very suitable for planting and growing Paulownia trees.
• Paulownia trees are very robust and extremely weather resistant. There are no known pests in Central Europe for this tree species that could lead to total loss.
• Paulownia wood is versatile due to its properties and is already in great demand and use in numerous industries (USA, China, Australia).
• Due to the enormously large leaves of up to 40 cm in diameter, an above-average amount of CO2 is compensated and remains bound in the wood in the long term. This not only helps the environment, but also reduces the personal CO2 footprint of the owner.

Originally from China, Paulownia trees, also called Kiri and Bluebell trees, are the fastest growing precious wood trees in the world, growing 2-3 meters per year. In Germany, this tree species has been planted as an ornamental tree in parks and avenues for many decades. The cultivar "Royal Treeme I", which has been specially adapted to the Central European climate, has an extremely straight and knot-free trunk growth. After a growth period of 12 years, the trees have an expected trunk height of circa 15 meters and a trunk diameter of circa 40 cm.

The extremely large leaves generate a lot of energy for the tree, which leads to the given rapid growth.

Due to the unique technical properties of the wood, there are very many possible applications. It is very light, extremely resilient as well as resistant and flame retardant.

Today, the wood already has multifaceted applications. It is already used for extremely resilient sporting goods, musical instruments, furniture construction, as well as the interior fittings of boats.

Yes, the tree forms several shoots, so-called cane budding, if it is vital and not too old. After that, a new shoot can begin.

The strongest shoot dominates, is usually the highest, strongest (diameter), but must also be straight.

Yes, but only if we detect certain diseases and the tree does not develop its vigor and our care and support measures are not effective. Normally, the Paulownia sprouts three times from one root. In the event that the plantation areas do not receive a second or third lease renewal, we must clear the areas and restore the agricultural soil condition. In this case, we have to clear the roots.

As a rule, after three shoots, the Paulownia root (Shan Tong Hybrid) no longer has such good vigor and the wood changes its structure to the detriment of quality. Therefore, replacement then makes sense.

Through the biological cultivation of the fast-growing Royal-treeme trees (Paulownia), we make a major contribution to CO2 compensation. Together with the world's largest testing institute, SGS, we began having our trees tested for their CO2 absorption five years ago. A Royal Tree (Paulownia) absorbs 64.8 kg of CO2 per year. This value is many times higher than that of other trees. The sustainable aspect of the process is, that the bound CO2 is not released again through e.g. combustion etc., but remains bound for a long time thanks to our concept of processing the wood into high-quality precious wood products. However, the technique of binding CO2 is not different from other trees. The carbon (C) is converted to biomass (wood) and the oxygen (O2) is released.

Sale, inheritance or donation of the trees is possible at any time to any person, passing on the terms of the contract.

Basically, wood is a raw material that cannot be replaced. Due to the clearing of rainforests that has taken place in recent decades and the strict regulations associated with it, the supply of precious wood on the world market is becoming increasingly scarce.

At the same time, demand continues to increase due to the growth of the world's population. In the past, this has led to a significant price increase in the precious wood market.

Due to this natural demand and the increasingly scarce supply, a positive development and a large demand market can also be assumed in the future.

The treeme security concept is absolutely unique and has the following components:

The naturally given positive characteristics of the Paulownia tree, such as frost insensitivity, weather resistance, support the entire concept.

All-risk insurance, i.e. in the event of a loss, the purchase price plus 5% p.a. yield increase from the time of planting out on the plantations, is insured.

The special feature is our treeme all-risk insurance in case of damage (purchase price plus 5% performance p.a. co-insured from the year of planting out). To our knowledge, this is not the case with any other investment product worldwide. We define insured risks and damages as:

GWI AG earns its entrepreneurial wage by selling the wood of the mature Paulownia trees. The buyer of the RSC receives the proceeds up to an achieved sales price of 680 € per tree. If a surplus is achieved (from 680,-- / tree), this surplus is divided between the buyer RSC and the GWI AG. The complete sales revenue up to 680 € (minus 5% handling fee) goes to the buyer RSC. The profit sharing ensures that GWI AG has a great self-interest to take care of the trees in the best possible way, to reach the optimal wood quality and to achieve a maximum price when selling the wood. This creates a win-win situation for the buyer RSC and GWI AG.

The Paulownia tree is a tree that, due to the size of its leaves and its enormous growth, binds an extremely large amount of CO2. In this way, the tree owner also improves his own CO2 footprint, because the converted CO2 remains bound in the wood long term, since this wood is not burned (energy wood). Per hectare and year, this amounts to approximately 36 tons of CO2. This creates a real and proven benefit for the environment.

In principle, the trees can be purchased for children, grandchildren or third persons. For beneficiaries who are not of legal age, the signature of the legal guardian is required.

The buyer of the RSC does not become the owner of the trees. He acquires a certain number of RSC of Paulownia trees, which are uniquely assigned by numbering, and documented in a tree inventory list. In addition, the buyer of the RSC receives the GPS geodata of the trees, assigned to the RSC, with the exact location on the plantation.

No. There are no ongoing fees or costs beyond the purchase price. All costs are already fully included in the purchase price, such as the lease, the administration, the care and breeding, the security concept, as well as the subsequent sale.

After payment of the purchase price, the buyer of the RSC receives an RSC/ tree acquisition certificate as well as, after planting his trees assigned to the acquired RSC‘s on the plantation, the GPS geodata and, if available, webcam access. In addition, there is an annual plantation report, newsletters and invitations to regular plantation visits.

After the standing time of the trees, GWI AG takes over the sale of the wood and the harvesting of the trees. The customer is informed in writing about the achieved sales result and receives his sales share. This terminates the contractual relationship between the customer and GWI AG. A separate termination is not necessary on the part of the customer.
